![]() ![]() History. The Alvarado Transportation Center was originaly a hotel and it was called The Alvarado Hotel. It was known for its luxury up until the 1970`s when it started loosing business. The Alvarado was the first train station built in Albuquerque. It opened in the 1800`s after the hotel was shut down. The original train station was burnt down in 1993. Amtrack used a small place on the site as the train station. The current place was built in 2000. The first project was completed in 2002. To provide service for ABQ Ride, the second project was completed in 2006 which was the New Mexico Rail Runner Express. The Alvarado Transportation Center kept some amazing art from the previous hotel, such as the water fountain which is located in front of the Alvarado Transportation Center. |
